Lowcountry Performing Arts Events in September

We are throwing ourselves into the arts and culture of Charleston. Sure, many people hear all about the food of this historic city, but the performing arts scene here is growing fast. We want to share with you the events and venues that you should be aware of when visiting Charleston in the month of September:

The Charleston Stage Company since 1978 is the resident theatre company that houses itself in the most historic downtown theatre, the Dock Street Theatre. This month they are running their production of the hit Abba musical MAMMA MIA. We saw the show it's opening week. With Charleston Stage Company's new venue opening in West Ashley we can't wait to see what other amazing things this troupe brings to the CHS community.

For tickets to Mamma Mia, check out the Charleston Stage Company Website.

You just missed an amazing performance at the Queen Street Theatre by the Footlight Players Theatre Company. Their production starred Actor's Equity member Nakeisha Daniel and the quality of her performance left us in anticipation of their next production. Under new management, the Footlight Players is lucky to perform in another fascinating historical venue The Queen Street Playhouse.

Make sure to check it out when here.

As new professors at the College of Charleston, we are excited to be participating in their Theatre and Dance Department's 2018-19 season. This month don't miss their opening production of Shakespeare's The Tempest and ROUGH MAGIC in rep for two weeks. We will be attending the first Friday and Saturday night performances of each show. Come Join us!

The amazing warehouse space that has been transformed into the Woolfe Street Playhouse has their first show this month, Treasure Island. We can't wait to see what's possible in this venue located downtown near some of the best restaurants in Charleston.
