Staycation: Visit the Woodlands TX

Sep 29, 2021

Special thanks to Visit The Woodlands for hosting us for the weekend. This post is sponsored, but all opinions are our own.

As you probably know, we have had the great pleasure of buying a home in Texas this last year (see our home tour on youtube). But this last weekend we were invited to take a staycation nearby in The Woodlands. Stephen teaches ballet in The Woodlands, but we had never had the experience of seeing all that it has to offer, so we jumped at the opportunity.

We stayed at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel as Bonvoy members, we were excited to see how gorgeous our room was. Plus, the safety and cleanliness inside were impeccable. We took advantage of the awesome pool, gym, and proximity to The Waterway with amazing food and coffee shops.

One of the reasons we love The Woodlands so much is they love the Arts. Everywhere you look is commissioned art sculptures. We visited the Fall Fine Arts Festival at Market Street before doing a little shopping and then having dinner at Tommy Bahamas.

The next morning we were invited to do an hour of paddleboarding, kayaking, or water biking at the Lakes Edge Boat House. We chose to do some paddleboarding, but don’t worry, we didn’t fall in. It was a beautiful morning for it, and the location in Hughes Landing gave us a perfect spot to grab lunch after and take in all the amazing art installations.

Our lunch was at the Local Pour which has a huge option of menu items, outdoor seating, and some amazing views of the water. The name does not give this food justice as the inside of the place is spacious and as non-drinker foodies, we loved what we ate.

We hopped on the FREE trolley back to our hotel at The Waterway, where we took in the hotel pool and gym, a little nap in our executive level King sized bed, and headed for the main event, to see Hall and Oates perform at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. Before seeing these legends, we stopped at Churrascos to get a meal.

The restaurant was an easy walk from our hotel and the menu items were hard to choose from because there were just so many. Stephen settled on a burger, while Bret had the signature Churrasco steak. BOTH meals were out of this world flavorful, and the quiet intimate atmosphere set quite the mood for us to go rock it out.

Our proximity to The Pavilion was an easy 5-minute walk from there and the amphitheater had such a great breeze blowing through it that we felt very safe and ready to hear some classic rock tunes.

The lineup of amazing artists that play The Pavilion is unbelievable. Plus, the venue itself has amazing state-of-the-art lighting and sound, unlike any venue we’ve been to. FYI, there are amazing local food options at The Pavilion, so if you want to save your meal for the show you could do that as well!

After the show, we walked by to our hotel on a total music HIGH and fell asleep for one last night of our staycation.

All in all, The Woodlands is a wonderful stop if you’re in the Houston area and want a clean, inspired, and friendly place to shop, eat and take in some art. We feel blessed to be near such a wonderful place.
